Minox Compact CO₂ Capture development project

Background and purpose of the project
The project will design and manufacture a compact amine-based CO₂ absorber. The technology has the potential to be used where other solutions do not fit. The technology has no rotating equipment. The experimental work will take place at USN, where the absorber will be operated in conjunction with USN’s test rig.

The solution proposed by Minox Technology AS is a compact system that is particularly suitable for space-constrained offshore environments. This project is in line with Minox’s sustainability goals and other growth plans.
Minox has experience in compact mixing and separation of gases and liquids, including from seawater deoxygenation systems.

The aim of the project
– To document the operation and performance of the Minox CO₂ capture system under various conditions.
– To assess the potential of the technology for use in offshore oil and gas operations, considering space and weight constraints.
– To facilitate the development of knowledge/expertise for the up-scaling of the system and further large-scale testing.
