CO₂-Hub Nord phase

This project is a continuation of “CO₂ Hub Nordland”, a CLIMIT-supported project completed in 2021, and continues with the same industry partners. In addition, Aker Carbon Capture is included in the project as a technology supplier.

The pilot campaign will be carried out over six months using ACC’s MTU and will test the exhaust gas from two different companies, Elkem Rana, producing ferrosilicon and SMA Mineral, which is a limestone plant. CO₂-capture in process industry representing the next wave of large scale CCUS projects, generating data, experience and competence on implementation, integration and operation of CO₂-capture in industry. In addition, the project will develop new and optimized integration solutions and concepts as well as further develop CO₂-capture technology for application in a wide range of industries. This project will help generate results enabling a fast-track to a unique full-scale CCUS projects. It will be performed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and a business plan as well as benchmarking of carbon capture implementation in industry.
