CCS klynga på Øra (CCS cluster in Øra industry and harbor area)
FREVA KF, Borg Havn IK, Østfoldforskning AS, Fortum Oslo Varme AS
02/2018 – 08/2018
The idea of the project is based on the possibility to establish a CCS cluster for capture, liquefaction, intermediate storage and shipping of approximately 140-300.000 tons of liquid carbon dioxide per year from the industry and harbor area in Øra, Fredrikstad.
The project will be conducting a mapping and study of the basis for the creation of such a CCS cluster. The sources of CO2 could be from energy recovery of residual waste, the production of biofuels, chemical industry and food processing. It is a goal to facilitate the mapping and evaluation of selected suppliers of new and more cost-effective capture technology and solutions for LCO2 production and transport.
The development of the cluster will be based on technology development, transfer of experience and learning from the CCS project at Klemetsrud,-in combination with the common infrastructure and synergies in terms of industrial ecology that is already established in the industrial area of Øra.
