Who Can Apply?
Companies, research institutions, universities and university colleges can apply for funding from the CLIMIT programme for projects aimed at developing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. Applications must fall within the priority areas outlined in CLIMIT’s strategy and programme plan.
What Types of Projects Are Eligible for Funding?
Feasibility Study: An evaluation and analysis of the potential of a project, aimed at supporting the decision-making process by objectively and rationally identifying its strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats, as well as determining the resources required to implement it and, ultimately, ts prospects for success.
Demonstration: The acquisition, combination, shaping and use of existing scientific, technological, business and other relevant knowledge and skills with the aim of developing new or improved products, processes or services. This may also include activities aimed at the conceptual definition, planning and documentation of new products, processes or services. Experimental development may include prototyping, demonstration, piloting, testing and validation of new or improved products, processes or services in environments representative of real-life operating conditions, where the primary objective is to make further technical improvements to products, processes or services that are not yet substantially established. This may include the development of a commercially usable prototype or pilot that is necessarily the final commercial product and is too costly to produce solely for demonstration and validation purposes. Experimental development does not include routine or periodic changes to existing products, production lines, manufacturing processes, services or other ongoing operations, even if such changes may constitute improvements.
Development: Planned research or critical investigation aimed at acquiring new knowledge and skills for the development of new products, processes or services, or for achieving significant improvements to existing products, processes or services. This includes the creation of components of complex systems and may involve the construction of prototypes in a laboratory environment or in an environment with simulated interfaces to existing systems, as well as pilot lines where necessary for industrial research, particularly for the validation of generic technologies.

Application Criteria
Applications to CLIMIT-Demo are assessed based on the guidelines and priorities set out in the current programme plan, which provides the basis for the technical evaluation of all applications received.
Who Evaluates Applications and Makes Funding Decisions?
Applications to CLIMIT-Demo are evaluated by experts within the CLIMIT Secretariat. The Secretariat prepares a technical recommendation based on the programme plan, assessment criteria and other relevant guidelines.
Final authority for awarding funding rests with Gassnova’s Board of Directors. The Board has delegated decision-making authority to the CEO and, subsequently, to the Head of the CLIMIT Secretariat, within established financial limits. Applicants will receive a formal decision from the appropriate decision-making level, depending on the amount of funding requested for the project.
Project Implementation
Gassnova requires ongoing access to information on project progress and reserves the right to request representation on the project’s steering committee or similar governing bodies.
Project Completion
A final report documenting the project results and the agreed public disclosure of those results must be submitted to Gassnova. Gassnova will review and approve the final report as the basis for the project’s final financial settlement.
