Oppvarming av aminstripper med damp fra oxyfuel dampgenerator

Oxyfuel is one of three main technologies for CO₂ capture, in addition to post-combustion and pre-combustion. The project will evaluate a process in which the thermal and electrical energy of an amine-based post-combustion capture plant is delivered from an oxyfuel process.

Post-combustion CO₂ capture with amines requires large amounts of thermal energy, in addition to some electrical energy to drive pumps, fans, etc. This energy can be taken from the power plant’s main cycle. However, such a solution will require rebuilding of the main cycle. In addition, the power supply to the power grid will be significantly reduced.

When using an oxyfuel process to supply the energy to the amine plant, retrofitting the treatment plant will not require a significant halt to the main process, at the same time as total power supply to the power grid is maintained or increased.

The project will look at the technical and financial aspects of such a process solution.
