Production of power and valuable chemical feed stock with integrated CO2 capture

The project aims to develop technologies for production of electricity and valuable feedstock products with integrated CO2 capture. The project will focus on reactor technologies for high efficiency conversion of natural gas to products and integration with solid oxide fuel cells. The proposed innovations will be developed by Prototech AS in cooperation with Department of Physics and Technology, University of Bergen. The results will form the basis for the design of a pilot plant.
Current technologies operating within the same technology sphere experience high levels of material wear/degradation and clogging during product formation phase. The Prototech design uses a different design approach to prevent this degradation to occur and/or that accumulation of deposition products in unwanted areas can be kept at a level where it can be mitigated and rectified.
An early design concept model was manufactured and tested. This highlighted several challenges with the initial design. Based on the results from these tests a markedly different design approach was taken to simplify the overall design and remove as far as possible moving parts that proved in the concept model difficult to handle.
Present status is that the design has reached a high level of maturity and the procurement of hardware components have started.
