Novel Solid CO2 Absorbents and its Applications at High Temperatures and High Pressures

Adsorption/absorption of carbon dioxide on solid material at high temperature is becoming increasingly significant in the field of energy and environment, such as, controlling carbon dioxide emissions from fossil-fueled power system, nature gas treatment, purification of hydrocarbons, production of hydrogen gas and aerospace industry. Recently, a new preparation method has been developed and a novel structured Li2ZrO3 has been thereby discovered. The present work will explore the method to prepare stable Li2ZrO3 absorbent with high surface area by using template in preparation. In addition, Li2ZrO3/CNF/Graphite felt composite will be explored to realize efficient electric swing process to remove CO2 in power generation and in hydrogen production during st eam reforming of natural gas. An oscillating microbalance (TEOM) will be used to study absorption and diffusion of cO2 in the solid absorbents. In addition, education of a ph.D student and training a post doc are also the objectives of the project.
