EERA Joint Programme Carbon Capture and Storage has as its goal and motto coordinating energy research for low carbon Europe. The vision and objectives of EERA JP CCS is to be European authority on CCS research, development, and innovation. The role of EERA JP CCS is to provide coherence and strategic leadership as well as coordinating both national and international programmes in order to maximize synergies, facilitate knowledge sharing, and accelerate the development of CCS in Europe.
The objective of the project 228796 – EERA Joint Programme on CCS. Leadership is to execute the strategic leadership as required to coordinate and advocate the research interests, needs, preferences and priorities within, and on behalf of, the European Energy Research Alliance pertaining to emerging CCS technology. Further goal of the project is to ensure relevance of CCS technology options and its impacts on the European CCS community according to the European Strategic Energy Plan (the SET Plan) and other European initiatives like the Technology Platform for Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants (ZEP, jointly with Norwegian members: Bellona, Aker and Statoil) and the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI), especially the ECCSEL laboratory infrastructure.
Results up to date: •Strong interaction with the development of H2020 EWP in close co-operation with RCN both for 2014/15 call and now for 2016/17 call •Letter to Commissioners regarding the importance of CCS in H2020 •On-going dialogue with the directors of DG Energy and DG research – H2020- CCS •Submitted proposal for topics for H2020 jointly EERA CCS/ZEP •Development of new Description of work – EERA CCS •Strategic research agenda development- EERA CCS •Contributing to Joint workshops EERA ExCo/JPC (several) •Developing the R&D part of the CCS EII Report •Knowledge sharing with Norwegian partners in EERA CCS- IRIS and NIVA •Keynote on international co-operation Norway-Germany EERA congress 2014 •Drafting CCS input to SET-Plan Integrated Roadmap, Heading 4 "Enabling de-carbonization of the fossil fuel based power sector and energy intensive industry through CCS and CCU/CCUS" •Information exchange and dialogue for a possible co-fund LCE19 CCS •Contribution to establishing of an additional sub-program on transport
