Alstom Chilled Ammonia Process Performance Optimization Pre-study

Alstom has built a test facility for CO₂ capture at the Mongstad Technology Center (TCM). In the test plant, CO₂ is captured using chilled ammonia, a “chilled ammonia process”. The technology is under development and there will be room for improvement in terms of energy consumption, operational reliability and cost savings.

SINTEF and Alstom will collaborate to improve and further develop the technology. This pilot project aims to identify topics, bottlenecks and challenges where research and development have the greatest potential to improve the facility at TCM.
